Tattoo Reduction and Removal

That tattoo made sense once. Or at least it seemed like a good idea at the time. If the ink feels dated, distracting, too visible, or tied to a version of you that no longer fits, Flycatcher offers laser tattoo reduction and removal treatments for men who want a fresh start.

No more regret

Whether it’s an old name, a faded design, a symbol that no longer means much, or artwork that no longer fits your life, you are not the first man to outgrow his ink.

Tattoo reduction and removal is a gradual process that can be tailored to your goal — whether that is fading the tattoo significantly, lightening it, or trying to remove as much of it as possible.

Fortunately there is Flycatcher. We’ve created a comfortable environment and experience that will put any man at ease. We offer tattoo reduction and removal for men who are ready to make unwanted ink less visible, whether that means fading an old tattoo, softening a design that no longer fits, or simply taking the first step toward cleaner skin.

Tattoo Reduction & Removal

Some tattoos respond more easily than others. Results can vary based on the tattoo’s size, age, color, depth, type of ink, and location on the body.

Black and dark blue inks are often easier to treat, while colors like green, red, yellow, white, and flesh tones can be more stubborn.

Complete removal is not always possible, which is why reduction is often just as important a goal as removal.

Treatments can be purchased individually or as an "unlimited" series at a discounted rate. Pricing is based on size of treatment area in square inches.

FAQs

How "Unlimited" is your unlimited membership?

For Flycatcher, unlimited means unlimited treatments within a three-year window.

We recommend spacing sessions eight weeks apart, with six weeks being the absolute minimum, so your skin has time to heal and your body has time to clear the ink between treatments.

That means some clients may get the result they want in around 10 treatments, while others may want 12, 14, or more depending on the tattoo and their goals.

A lot of places cap “unlimited” at two years. We give you three, which gives you more flexibility, more time, and a more realistic path to the result you’re actually after.

How does laser tattoo reduction and removal work? Laser tattoo reduction and removal uses focused light energy to break tattoo ink into smaller particles. Over time, your body clears those particles away, which is why the tattoo usually fades gradually instead of disappearing all at once.

How many tattoo removal sessions will I need?

There is no honest one-size-fits-all answer. Most tattoos need a series of treatments, and the total depends on things like the size of the tattoo, the colors used, how deeply the ink was placed, where it is on the body, and how your skin responds.

Our "Unlimited" pricing is based on needing a minimum of 10 sessions.

Will my tattoo disappear completely? Sometimes, but not always. Some tattoos clear very well, while others respond better to fading than full removal. Complete removal may take many treatments, and in some cases it may not be possible.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

Yes. It hurts. Not in a dramatic movie-scene way, but definitely in a “why did I do this to myself in 2014?” way.

Most people say it feels like hot grease hitting the skin, or a rubber band if the rubber band were angry and on fire.

The good news is that treatments are usually pretty quick, and there are ways to make it more tolerable (i.e.- topical numbing cream). Still, nobody should sell this as painless — it is a real discomfort tradeoff for getting rid of something you no longer want.

Which tattoo ink colors are easiest and hardest to remove? Black and dark blue usually respond best to laser treatment. Colors like green, red, and yellow can be more difficult, and white, flesh-toned inks, and some permanent makeup pigments can be especially tricky because they may darken when treated.

Can you lighten a tattoo for a cover-up instead of fully removing it? Yes. Full removal is not the only goal. Many people use laser treatment to fade a tattoo enough for a cleaner, easier cover-up. How much fading is possible depends on the tattoo and the ink.

What does recovery look like after each session? It is normal to have some redness, swelling, tenderness, and sometimes blistering or scabbing after treatment. The area should be kept clean, protected, and out of the sun while it heals, and you should avoid picking at blisters or scabs.

Am I a good candidate for laser tattoo removal? Many people are good candidates, but not everyone is. Good results depend on factors like your tattoo’s colors, size, and age, as well as your skin, overall health, and immune system. A consultation is the best way to find out what kind of result is realistic for you.

Is laser tattoo removal safe for my skin tone? In many cases, yes. Different skin tones can often be treated safely, but the provider needs to choose the right laser settings and approach. On darker skin tones, extra care is important to reduce the risk of unwanted pigment changes.

Will tattoo removal leave a scar or change my skin color? There is always some risk, but serious scarring is not the expected outcome when treatment is done appropriately and aftercare is followed carefully. Temporary lightening or darkening of the skin can happen, and some tattoos may leave behind mild skin texture changes or ghosting even after the ink fades.

How should I prepare for my tattoo removal appointment? Come in with clean skin and avoid tanning or heavy sun exposure on the area before treatment. It is also important to share your health history, medications, and any history of scarring or skin reactions so your provider can treat you as safely and effectively as possible.

How long does each treatment take, and how far apart are sessions?

Most appointments are fairly quick, especially for smaller tattoos, but the exact time depends on the size and location of the piece. A reduction treatment is much faster than the process of actually getting a tattoo.

Sessions are scheduled 8 weeks apart (6 weeks minimum) because your skin needs time to recover and your body needs time to clear the fragmented ink between treatments.
